Recently, a conversation I had with a father stayed with me.
He had initially shared concern about his son and asked why his child did not respond or behave the way he or his wife did. He was not frustrated. He was genuinely trying to understand his son and communicate better with him.
That conversation led to the opportunity to coach him one on one and eventually include his son as well.
As the father began to understand his son’s personality and behavioral style, everything shifted. He shared how excited he was to finally see situations from his son’s perspective. Communication became clearer. Responses became calmer. Understanding replaced confusion.
He later shared that he is now communicating more effectively with his son and feels more confident as a parent. Most of all, he expressed gratitude for the clarity he gained.
As a Certified D.I.S.C. Behavior Analysis Coach, this is why I do this work.
Communication is not about changing who someone is. It is about understanding how they process, respond, and experience the world.
When families learn to communicate with understanding and respect, relationships strengthen and confidence grows.
I am grateful for the opportunity to add value to this father and his family.
💬 Have you ever experienced a moment when understanding someone’s perspective changed the entire conversation?
